The MOI has warned social media users not to post harmful and defaming posts or comments about the religion or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The MOI has informed that action will be taken against all social media users who are harming Islam, the Saudi community and citizens by spreading rumors over the social media networks.
Facebook, twitter, snapchat, instagram are among the most popular social media networks widely used by the citizens and expatriates alike.
Riyadh Police recently reported that it received reports by citizens of different posts circulated on snapchat and twitter that were deemed disrespectful and contained harmful comments. Riyadh police have since identified the users and have handed them over to the bureau of investigation for further processing.
In the past weeks, the case of Abu Sin was highlighted locally, where a Saudi teenager while having video chat with an American girl was made public and a series of videos were uploaded over YouTube. The teen has since repented and wowed not to use social media for harmful means.
