Saudi Prince sentenced to Death for Murdering a Citizen


Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today has executed a member of the royal family for murder. Prince Turki bin Saud bin Turki bin Saud Al-Kabeer was put to a death sentence in Riyadh on Tuesday after proven guilty of murdering Adel bin Sulaiman bin Abdul Kareem Al-Mihaimeed, who was also a Saudi national. The killing took place as a result to a disagreement, according to an official statement by the Ministry of Interior.




As per The Ministry of Interior, security personnel arrested the offender and after investigating charged him with murder.The murder case was referred to the Saudi General Court, which found him guilty of the charges that was brought against him and sentenced him to death. The verdict was supported by the Court of Appeals and The Supreme Court of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. After that a Royal announcement was issued to carry out the verdict.

Following the execution, Prince Khalid bin Saud Al Kabeer, father of the executed prince tweeted the following;




According to The Ministry of Interior, the death penalty reflects the fair judgment by the government of the Kingdom and will make sure the safety and justice for every citizen in future as well. 

FYI, Saudi Arabia has a strict Islamic legal law of conduct under which armed robbery, drug trafficking, murder, rape are all punishable by death. Amnesty International reports that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already carried out at least 158 death sentences in the year 2015.
