Expats who are 60 years of age or above
will be counted as two expats staff in the Nitaqat Saudization program, according
to Al-Medina Arabic newspaper. However, expats who are teachers (professors,
associate professors, assistant professors, lecturers) and doctors will not be
considered as two.
In
2010, The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has started a long-term
strategy to equip Saudi nationals to dominate the job market. The unemployment
rate has dropped since the implementation of this strategy and in 2015 the
number of unemployed Saudis was only 647,000.
The strategy also included making the private
sector appealing for local job seekers; this has increased the number of Saudis
in the private sector by 1.7 million. The year 2015 also marked an increase
number of Saudi women employed by 21% compared to the year 2014.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Labor and
Social Development has also supported special needs people through its program
called Nitaqat Plus and Tawafoaq. The Government has implemented a seven stage
wage protection system to ensure that employees get their salaries on time. To
make the Nitaqat Saudization program effective no Saudis are included in the program
if their monthly wage is below 1,500 Saudi Riyals.
