SR 1,000 Fine Imposed For Wrong Parking

Double parking or parking a vehicle on the roadway side of a vehicle already parked or at the curb is now punishable with a hefty fine of SAR 1,000. In major cities here in Saudi Arabia, we often see cars double parked preventing other vehicles from departing and generally obstructing a traffic lane to the extent of often making the street impassable.

Below image of a SMS is going viral these days, where the driver received this text from MOI-MORROR for incorrect/double parking. It has a notification of SR 1000 traffic fine.

In some areas, people are seen double parking their vehicles while leaving the hand brakes off. This allows other drivers to the curb to push the double parked car a little forward or backward, in order to move their car from the parking spot.

In the major cities in KSA, you may a paper or a card on the dashboards with the cell # of the driver, to alert them to move the car in case you are moving your vehicle. It creates nuisance especially for the ones who are travelling with their families.
