The bitter truth of the Kingdom’s Higher Education

Higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia are being pressurized to provide jobs to the local people and replace expats academic staff. Hundreds of local Saudi professors’ job applications have been declined by local universities though most of the universities are in need of highly qualified staff. According to report in a local newspaper Al-Watan, most of the Saudi graduates from local universities have degrees in Islamic studies and that less than 1% has science qualification.

Education is to accept other cultures and learning new things. There was a time when King Saud University has students from all over the world. It has teachers of various nationalities speaking different languages. Universities in other parts of the world encourage students and teachers from everywhere. A great example is Princeton University (USA)  it has students and teachers from almost 97 nationalities.
