The cost of living in Saudi Arabia is a mystery. Imagine, Gas
costs less than water, and electricity is so cheap that you can run the A.C all
day long and it hardly breaks 100 Riyals a month. As far as my observation is
concerned, the cost of living in the Kingdom definitely favors for those
looking to save money and enjoy the luxuries at same time.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the last remaining of
kingship in the world. It has been ruled by a clan of kings since it came
into being in the year 1926 and is known as a “welfare state”. People living in
the Kingdom expect certain subsidies and privileges by tribal rights. This
means huge subsidies on items such as gas, bread, sugar, and other
basic goods. The cost of living in Saudi Arabia is more or less equal in
all the major cities.
In Saudi Arabia there are various activities one can engage themselves like
in the coastal cities; you can go paragliding, desert trekking, scuba diving, and
much more. In Riyadh, you can only go desert trekking. I would highly recommend
living in Jeddah if you are a bachelor since it has some amazing sites
to enjoy, as well as a few hours’ drive to the Two Holy Mosques Mecca and
Medina. Dammam is on the eastern coast and is a short drive from Bahrain you
just have to cross over a sea-bridge and you’re there.
The beauty of living in Saudi Arabia is the potential to
good jobs, handsome salaries, exposure to different cultures, and the last
but not the least the charm of visiting the two Holy Mosques.
I would really recommend Saudi Arabia as one of your work destinations. You’ll come a couple of years ahead of the game, with a much more focused frame of mind.
